Summary
Set TV for many users is a love hate relationship. The service itself is great, with solid HD streams and plenty of English content. However, the provider running the service is not famous for customer service that goes above and beyond, that's for sure! (That title goes to Ace TV by the way..) But, the streams are too good to ignore, so give them a try and see if it is a good fit for you.

Packages

Set TV keeps things really simple for their customers. You don’t have to pick from different streaming packages, or decide how you intend to connect to their streams. One simple package with the whole service is all that is on offer. Especially newcomers to streaming will appreciate the lack of choice, knowing that they won’t have to compare packages and risk subscribing to the wrong one.

So, what do you get and how much does it cost. Set TV is neither the cheapest, nor does it have the biggest channel lineup. $20 per month for 500 channels may seem expensive at first. But, those $20 get you:

  • 500 + Channels, including many in HD quality
  • Thousands of on demand entertainment options
  • Plug & Play with their own app
  • Compatible with virtually every platform

Those 500 channels are all English. There is something for everyone. Many kids channels such as ytv, family and ABC spark. Sports packages like NFL, NHL and NBA. A cottage and fishing channel if you’re into that sort of thing. Free PPV channels and even Adult channels that are password protected in case you have kids. Best of all, Set TV constantly adds new channels, so expect additional content in the future.

Finally, another advantage of Set TV worth mentioning is the ability to stream from three different devices at the same time. This is usually a paid option at other providers. At Set TV, this is included in the monthly subscription price. So, you can watch a movie or your team’s game while the kids stream their own channel next door.

One point we need to highlight, though, is the mediocre customer service that Set TV offers. They are not very responsive and helpful. If they ran customer service like they run their streaming operations, they would be second to none. As it is currently, our recommendation is to go with a reseller that actually puts in the time to help their customers.

Content

To be very clear. Set TV is clearly geared towards customers looking for English content. You won’t find international channels, let alone VoD content. If that is what you are after, check out other providers.

However, if English channels are all you need, Set TV has one of the best US/CA channel line ups around. Whether you are a sports enthusiast, a housewife or looking for content for you children, there are plenty of channels to keep you entertained.

A highlight is their sports section. There are dozens of channels streaming all popular sports, including NBA, NHL, UFC, Golf and countless more. Add to this entertainment networks and well over a dozen kids’ channels and you’ll see that Set has your whole household covered. Also, keep in mind, that you can stream from three devices simultaneously. No arguing or fighting over who gets to watch their program. Simply watch it all from virtually any device that can access the internet.

Set TV has been around for quite some time now. That is not only an indicator for their service’s quality. It also means that they have been able to grow their on demand content to a very impressive size. Whether it’s the latest blockbusters, classic movies or whole box sets of TV shows, you can stream it all whenever you want.

Quality & Reliability

Strictly looking at streaming quality, there is nothing to complain about. Many TV channels are streamed in high definition with impressive bit rates and not overly compressed. The end result is a clear and smooth picture, in some cases accompanied by 5.1 surround sound. Their focus on a limited set of English-only channels clearly pays off when it comes to stream quality.

The reliability of those streams in everyday use is equally impressive. We haven’t experienced any major issues when watching using an Android box connected via Ethernet. No lagging, distortion, audio that was out of sync or similar issues. Of course, this is IPTV and some hiccups are to be expected. But, compared to many other providers, Set TV seem to be running a tight ship when it comes to sourcing and distributing their TV channels to users. We also noticed that channel switching was smooth and fast.

Another thing worth noting is the excellent electronic program guide. An issue we see with virtually all providers that offer loads of channels, especially international, is an EPG that does not contain program information. This is not the case with Set TV. For most channels, accurate and up-to-date EPG data is available, making browsing easy and enjoyable.

Compatibility

Set TV is compatible with virtually any device you can hook up to the internet.

Set TV is somewhat unique, because they heavily rely on their excellent apps with loads of features to provide access to their content. While you can still use a MAG device or STB Emu on your android box, using their apk app is the way to go. This is great news for all those that do not like Kodi or Stalker and prefer a native app on their Android box or phone.

Also, Set TV even has their own PC and Mac applications that you can use to connect directly to their service, no complicated setup or configuration required.

Clearly, Set TV is one of the most user-friendly services around.
